Drone Racing has quickly grown into a professional sport with global leagues, large prize pools and pro contracts for the best pilots. Competing at the highest level requires unique skills, training, coaching, drills and practices. The Pro Drone Racing Summer Bootcamp Program is an elite opportunity for students in grade 9 through 12 to receive a week of individualized professional training in a program customized specifically to develop skills, knowledge, and experience to compete at the highest levels.

  • First of-its-kind online, distance-learning drone racing summer camp.

  • Four one-week sessions in summer 2020.

  • Co-ed Summer Camp (12 campers per cohort, grades 9–12).

  • Daily drone racing training, sim practice, skill development, industry speakers and lectures.

  • 1-on-1 video coaching, daily multiplayer Velocidrone races and practice sessions.

  • Learn to build, fly and compete from the biggest names in drone racing.

  • Every camper keeps a complete FPV kit, including drone, goggles, controller, and Velocidrone.

  • No previous experience required!

  • Four one-week overnight sessions at SPIRE Academy.

  • Co-ed Summer Camp (12 campers per cohort, grades 9–12).

  • 4 hours per day of drone racing training, skill development, industry speakers and lectures.

  • 2 hours per day of pro gamer health/fitness/social media/career training.

  • Daily open time for extra flying, practice, socializing and relaxing.

  • Learn to build, fly and compete at the highest level while gaining valuable STEM skills.

  • Every camper keeps their drone, goggles and controller.

Online, At-Home Drone Racing Summer Camps are offered as one-week, home-based experiences from SPIRE Academy, a premier co-ed sports training. Each camp day, campers will train, fly and race with the PC drone sim Velocidrone and a real Emax FPV drone kit to keep.

 

Working one-on-one and in small groups with professional pilots, camper’s skills are measured and tracked throughout the week to ensure each camper gets a personalized coaching and training experience. Flight practice is combined with engineering, programming bench work and presentations from visiting pro drone pilots.

Students will learn a wide range of FPV drone racing and freestyle skills, hardware setup and tuning, electronics and safety. Every program includes one-on-one personalized training and coaching sessions, as well as team-based racing and competitions.

Campers also receive daily video conferencing sessions focused on pro athlete coaching, maintaining health, fitness, nutrition, as well as PR, social media management and career counseling.

The last day of camp features a final Velocidrone race competition, award ceremony and celebration hosted by global drone professionals.

Each student receives a complete FPV drone racing package to keep, including Emax quadcopter, radio controller, video goggles, batteries, spare parts, Velocidrone license and gamepad.

 

Velocidrone requires high-speed internet access and a PC with the following specs: Windows 7, 8 and 10 (64 bit only) CPU: Intel I3 1.7ghz. GPU: Intel HD4000. Memory: 4GB Disk: 12GB. DirectX 11.0, Shader Model 5.

Pro Drone Racing Summer Camps are offered as one-week sleepover or day camp experiences on the campus of SPIRE Academy, a premier co-ed sports training facility near Lake Erie in Geneva, Ohio featuring elite facilities for traditional and future sports.

 

Each camp day, campers will spend four hours flying and racing in a professional drone sports experience, working one on one with professional pilots on a variety of mini and micro drone platforms. Individual pilot’s skills are measured and tracked throughout to ensure each camper gets a personalized pilot coaching and training experience.

 

Flight practice is combined with engineering, programming bench work and presentations from visiting pro drone pilots.

Students will train on a wide range of drone platforms, including mini and micro- scale racing drones, combat and soccer drones and PC-based drone racing simulators. Every program includes one-on-one personalized training and coaching sessions, as well as team-based racing and competitions.

Campers also receive two hours each day of additional programming focused on maintaining physical health and fitness and nutrition and mental health, as well
as pro athlete coaching in PR, social media management and career counseling. Campers will have plenty of time to relax, play games and enjoy SPIRE’s huge sports and recreation campus.

The last day of camp features a final drone race competition and award ceremony. Each student receives a complete mini drone racing package to keep, including their own FPV quadcopter, radio controller, video goggles, batteries, and spare parts.

ABOUT SPIRE

SPIRE Academy is a national & international Academy for high school and postgraduate athletes located on a state-of-the-art facility in Geneva, Ohio. SPIRE Academy is focused on performance training for all athletes, and sports-specific training in swimming, track and field, basketball, esports, drone racing and robotics.

Beginning Fall 2020, SPIRE Academy will offer programs in esports and robotics. The program provides each student with the experience, knowledge and toolset to pursue a professional career in technology, robotics and engineering through project-based, hands-on curriculum.
